SENIOR PRODUCER

Long Story Short Media is hiring a Senior Producer. We are looking for a talented leader who has demonstrated an ability to produce major, high-profile video projects from inception to delivery with a positive, collaborative, and can-do attitude.  The Senior Producer will have a high level of accountability, responsibility for their own work, and that of their project team.

As a seasoned producer, you have the ability to manage multiple projects and project teams simultaneously.  You have a proven track record of effectively managing any role necessary on a project, including client relationship building and client onboarding and management; creative internal concept development; and leading support staff to drive pre and post production.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading field production - conducting interviews, managing clients on-site, leading production crews on small to large scale productions, talent/actor managing, media management. 

  • Leading post-production - particular emphasis on strong writing abilities and experience. Leading editors and graphic artists to execute on overall vision and creative direction. Managing client feedback. Driving support teams to assist post production.

  • Live show production - stage management, show scripting, control room experience, run of show management.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Write, conceptualize, storyboard, produce, shoot, interview, direct, and edit video production work.

  • Project-manage, optimize, and execute video projects.

  • Work with other departments to ensure that video content is tailored to the platforms and target audiences of the organization’s priority campaigns.

  • Work with internal staff and freelancers to film interviews, B-roll and events that are not located in Washington, D.C.

  • Collaborate with Post-Production team to oversee editing and motion graphics

  • Create content for specific in-person and virtual events, including making recommendations about technologies to support live and pre-recorded remote shoots.

  • Stay abreast of changing technologies, latest trends, software, standards, and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience as a producer with an agency, network or production company. 

  • Advanced working knowledge of Adobe Premiere; proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, with a foundation in After Effects a plus.

  • Experience with sound mixing and color correction.

  • Experience with cinema cameras and/or DSLRs; experience with Sony cameras (FS5) a plus.

  • Experience using a professional studio, including setting up lights, operating a teleprompter, directing on-camera talent and monitoring audio levels.

  • Experience filming and editing using a green screen.

  • Excellent interviewing skills, including the ability to draft questions and pivot in the moment as an interview demands

  • Comfortable working independently and in collaboration with internal teams.

  • Relationships with the wider production community to help identify talent (production companies, producers, editors, directors of photography) that can help LSS’ growth is a plus.

  • Experience with broadcast news is a plus but not required.

This is an office position in our Washington, DC location. Some travel may be required domestically and internationally.
