Conspiracyland

Conspiracyland launched at #2 on iTunes, received over a million downloads in its first month, and landed coverage from NBC, CNN, Washington Post, Axios, and more.

We teamed up with Yahoo News’ Chief Investigative Correspondent Michael Isikoff to create this original podcast series about the true origins of the Seth Rich conspiracy. For over a year, LSS and Yahoo News tracked the story from worldwide headlines to its original sources, highlighting the Russian connection and showing the ramifications of the conspiracies on Seth’s family and friends and our political culture through original interviews. The 6-part podcast series, produced by Yahoo News and LSS, can be found on Spotify and iTunes.

A History of the Cocktail With Derek Brown

“A History of the Cocktail” received a 2016 Webby Honoree Award.

LSS Media created this original piece on the history of the cocktail with multiple James Beard Award nominee Derek Brown. Brown is a cocktail and spirits writer and judge, and owner of several nationally acclaimed bars in Washington, DC. In 2015, he was named Imbibe Magazine’s Bartender of the Year and the Chief Spirits Advisor for the National Archives in conjunction with their “Spirited Republic: Alcohol in American History” exhibit. The piece was showcased by the National Archives as part of Spirited Republic and a ten-part master class on the history of the cocktail curated by Derek Brown.

Whales and SETI

“Whales and SETI” is a 2019 Jackson Wild Media Awards finalist for best Animal Behavior short form film.

LSS Media collaborated with Richard Sergay of Rebel Media Productions to produce this educational video in association with The Templeton World Charity Foundation. The piece explores the possibility of how whale songs may help us decode messages from outer space, and more broadly how understanding non-human communication may one day help us translate extraterrestrial transmissions.  The short film is currently a finalist selected from a pool of over 1,000 entries for the Jackson Wild Media Awards, which celebrates innovative and exploratory stories of nature.

Uniquely Nasty won a 2016 Edward R. Murrow Award for News/Documentary.

We launched the groundbreaking documentary, “Uniquely Nasty: The U.S. Government’s War on Gays” with Yahoo News, featuring original reporting from Chief Investigative Correspondent Michael Isikoff. This co-production was the inaugural documentary in Yahoo News’ re-launched Viewfinder Series, exploring the historical persecution of gays and lesbians by the federal government, and its relevance to the Supreme Court same-sex marriage case. It showcased extensive archival material, and also featured the voice talents of Matt Bomer and George Takei as they read from shocking official documents newly recovered from previously closed government files.
